Terms of Use
Effective October 25, 2026. These terms apply to the Howdoey website and beta macOS application. By using Howdoey, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.
Using Howdoey
Howdoey provides AI-generated explanations and visual guidance. You perform the clicks and decide what to do. Suggestions can be incomplete or incorrect. Review instructions before acting, especially before sending information, deleting files, making payments, or changing important settings. Howdoey does not provide professional legal, medical, or financial advice.
Your responsibility
Use Howdoey only on devices, accounts, and services you are authorized to access. Respect other people’s privacy and the rules of the services you use. Do not use it to bypass access controls, infringe rights, or perform unlawful activity.
Local AI and optional services
The local setup downloads an AI runtime and model over the internet and uses storage and computing resources on your Mac. The current setup targets Apple silicon Macs running macOS 14 or later. Optional remote providers require their own access and are governed by their terms, privacy practices, and possible charges.
Beta software
Features and availability may change. The current development archive is not Apple Developer ID signed or notarized. Do not treat it as a finished public release. You may stop using the app and revoke its macOS permissions at any time.
Licenses
The application source is licensed under the repository’s MIT license. The local setup uses the MIT-licensed Ollama runtime and Qwen3.5-2B model weights licensed under Apache 2.0. Their licenses and notices apply separately. Third-party service names do not imply endorsement.
Warranty and liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Howdoey is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. To that same extent, the project contributors are not liable for losses resulting from use of Howdoey. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liabilities that cannot legally be excluded.
Updates and contact
Changes to these terms will appear on this page with an updated date. For project questions, contact the maintainers through the project repository. Do not post private information or credentials in public issues.
